Why not this design?
The original card system was inorganic; it did not reflect “fun”. The photos came out very fuzzy, and overall just did not have the feel we were going for.
We used a hashtag system as a way of engaging a younger demographic through familiar means. Sites like Tumblr, Instagram, and most other social media use hashtags in some capacity. For a news site, this system works for organization and finding other relevant articles. This also allows ads to be included without being intrusive or breaking the flow of the overall app.
